More than a Face Lift

If you are considering a facelift you should also consider other procedures that can help to give your face a total rejuvenated look. Since the facelift targets only a specific area, many patients choose to have more than one procedure done to their face at a time.

Having multiple procedures ensures a more natural and balanced look. Often, if you are a good candidate for a facelift, you may also benefit from a neck lift or a brow lift. It is also very common to have upper and lower eye-lifts.

Having more than one cosmetic surgery procedure to your face does prolong your recovery period.

A neck lift is when one has what is commonly called a turkey or grandmother neck. The muscles from the corner of the mouth to the jaw and down the sides of the collarbone begin to separate. They appear as two bands extending the length of a neck with loose skin in between. These muscles can be sutured together, part of it can be removed, or cinched together.A brow lift is similar to a facelift except the incisions are made further up the scalp just inside the hairline.

Other common procedures to have in addition to a facelift are cheek and chin implants. Cheek and chin implants involve inserting soft implants into these areas. These implants can help to provide shape and reduce wrinkles.

Some patients after a facelift have an unexpected fullness remaining under the jaw line. This can be removed during a portion of the facelift. It is also common to have nose jobs, collagen or Botox injections to increase fullness and reduce wrinkles. Liposuction and laser treatments can help smooth out wrinkles, resurface skin, or remove fine lines.
