Who is Not a Good Candidate?

Though a facelift is a common cosmetic surgery procedure, it is still a surgical procedure.

An indecisive patient is not a good candidate. It is important to have a firm and clear idea of what you want the results of your facelift surgery to be. Being a plastic surgery addict also does not make you a good candidate.

Some people are never satisfied and want too much done at once. It is important to have realistic expectations and know the limits of a facelift as well as its incredible benefits. A facelift is an improvement and cannot change you or your life. If someone is thinking that a facelift can change ones entire life, they may want to think more about plastic surgery.

If you are considering a facelift because another person wishes you to have the procedure, you really should take time to consider. A facelift is your choice and no one should make that choice for you. If a patient is a smoker a facelift will be that much more difficult. It is required that smokers quit two weeks before the surgery and at least two weeks after the surgery. This also means avoiding areas with smoke. The reason is that smoke constricts the blood vessels in your face which are important for the healing process.
